Susan Sutherin, M.A. Counseling and National Certified Counselor (NCC) is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine with a B.A. in Psychology. Susan earned her Masters in Counseling (with a specialty in secondary education) from the University of San Diego. For 22 years, Susan served as a High School Counselor both in public and private high schools. Her expertise is in helping students and their families navigate personal, social and academic challenges and uncertainties. With a caring and collaborative approach, her goal as a counselor is to encourage and assist the student in strengthening their confidence and self-awareness so they can create and implement a post high school plan.
Helping students plan for life after high school has been a special passion for Susan. College campus tours has become a hobby and she incorporates campus visits into her domestic and international travels whenever she can. Her goal is to visit colleges in every state in the U.S., and colleges referenced in the publication, Colleges That Change Lives.
For the last 8 years of her school counseling career, Susan developed the college/post-secondary planning program for graduating seniors and developed her expertise with the application process.
As an Independent Educational Counselor, Susan is a member of HECA, IECA and NACAC. She hopes to use all her resources to work collaboratively with students to explore, plan and implement a personalized post-secondary plan that maximizes planning time and minimizes stress.
